Our Pastor
Reverend Benjamin L. Calvert II
Rev. Benjamin L. Calvert II was licensed to preach and ordained under the training,
leadership, and direction of Rev. Dr. William H. Curtis in 2001. After serving as an
Assistant to the Pastor and the Minister of Outreach, Rev. Calvert was promoted to
Executive Pastor of Mount Ararat's 8,000-member congregation, where he served
faithfully for over 12 years. In May of 2014, Rev. Calvert was called to the Mount
Carmel Community Baptist Church of Steubenville, OH where he proudly serves as
the Senior Pastor. Under his stewardship, the church added a Sunday
morning worship service and several improvements to the worship facility. Along
with the leadership team and congregation, Mount Carmel continues to grow in
discipleship and its impact in the community.
With a burden for the strengthening of males, both young and old, Rev. Calvert
started The Manhood Project to restore masculinity and manhood to its natural place
in the home, church, and community by regular advocacy, mentoring, and
life-coaching. Rev. Calvert has served as Chairman of the Board of Directors for A
Giving Heart, which addresses the needs of homeless families in the city of
Pittsburgh, a board member of the Center for Spirituality in 12-Step Recovery and
currently serves as a member of the board of directors for the Urban Mission social
services agency of Steubenville, OH.
In addition to his mentorship with the MLK Male Initiative program and service with
the board of the Martin Luther King Jr Association of Steubenville He continues to
serve in various leadership capacities throughout the community and abroad. He
is a gifted leader, teacher, and preacher who is grateful to be saved and enthused
about the privilege to minister on behalf of the Kingdom of God.
Rev. Calvert completed a 2-year program at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary
through its Metro Urban Institute. He received a Bachelor's Degree with a focus in
Community Ministry in May of 2012 from Geneva College and is currently in the
midst of pursuing a Master of Divinity degree at United Theological Seminary in
Dayton, OH.

Azariah.
